Microcontrollers are small and inexpensive computers with input and output capablities. They are usually used for reading certain values in the environment, and then changing the environment according to those values. MC's can be found in many places today: cars, planes, elevators, micorwave ovens, toasters, etc.
The differentiators between the various types of MC's are speed, memory, number of input and output ports, and the development languages and environments that can be used with them.
We will be using the Parallax Basic Stamp 1, Rev D
